Artist's notes

During my travels on the British Columbian coast, the old decomposing totems have always intrigued me. I just loved the look of these antique works and thought I would recreate some for wall hangings. They are made from old growth yellow cedar stumps found in the mountains of Courtenay, British Columbia. They are not exact copies - just my versions of some of the characters on those poles.

I carved the piece, then let mother nature crack and change them as she has always done in the Queen Charlotte Islands and the rest of the British Columbian coast.

This piece is very different and unique.
